The first week of the 2026 FIRST Robotics Competition season set the tone for what promises to be an ambitious and energized build cycle. Our students jumped immediately into strategy, prototyping, and fabrication transforming kickoff excitement into real engineering progress. Here’s a look at what the team accomplished.
Once the team locked in on a few promising approaches, the mechanical subteam spread out across the BHS Library to build early prototypes. Using wood and hand tools students tested roller spacing, intake angles, and ball‑handling geometry.
To support mechanism testing, another group focused on building wooden field elements. These structures that are carefully measured and assembled will allow us to validate designs under realistic conditions. The team worked to create sturdy and accurate components.
